Where to go: IJhallen

Those girls slandering through the streets, in their petticoats, lighting up their cigaret and their hairs pinned up high. I believe those girls wouldn't stand out if you'd place them maybe twenty or thirty years back in time. I kind of miss that no-nonsense weather. Which is exactly why I am SO excited about the IJhallen!

The IJhallen is the biggest flea market in the Netherlands and if I should believe those cigaret 'n petticoat kind of girls, it should be amazing! This market is the definition of vintage. Some information:

Where: NDSM-werf Amsterdam, Neveritaweg 15
When: September 17th and 18th - October 8th and 9th - October 16th
Price: 4 euros p.p.
How: you can either wander through the five hundred stables, or buy your own attic crap yourself. If you want to sell your own stuff, make sure you register that in time. Here is the Ijhallen's website, in case you want to subscribe yourself: http://www.ijhallen.nl/

For cake's sake

When i turned seventeen, someone got me a cupcake course. Normally, anything that contains sugar, fat or chocolate gets eaten by me in an instant. I can't ignore those sweet smelling treats calling my name from the fridge. But those 8 cupcakes i made in those two and a half hours; those remained untouched. They were just too beautiful to eat. This course (which costs 50 euros p.p. and takes 2,5 hours) is the perfect gift or drug to a feeling of  low self-esteem in the kitchen. As a wise woman once said; girls just want to have fun. And this is some way of doing that.

Get your ass down to Spuistraat 266 and awake while drinking a cappucino and eating some fresh fruit, homemade jams and croissants or really anything you like! Le Pain Quotidien really does make having breakfast out a daily thing..
