Women running on their 6-inch heels for shopping money, discussion groups for shopaholics and a new computergame for those women who adore shopping; fashion has gradually become a lunacy. But no, the world has not yet been taken over by botox and drugs addicted childstarlets. In fact, wonders will never cease! Whether it's Alexa Chung parading a california festival, Blake Lively in Cannes or Louise Roe appearing on telly; untainted fashionistas aren't extinct species yet. And whether the roots dwell with Audrey Hepburn's little black dress or Twiggy's doll's eyes, the fashionistas have a history that reaches far back in time. The amount of girls who behold the flawless wonders of the fashionistas- with trembling hands, a jaw dropping expression and a jealousy that just couldn't be avoided- could not be counted with one hundred hands all together. And I am one of them.
Whether the fashionistas work in the fashion industry or they're just very passionate about it, they keep being masterly in unloading creativity , awaking jealousy and winning over the so-called male arm candy. Unfortunately every fairytale has an antithesis, and so do these well-dressed elfs. Myths like 'spend large to look large' or 'you only stand out if dressing like an avant-garde designer', rage through the streets where limitless fashion is no longer a taboo.
The magic of being a fashionista isn't beyond your reach; just a few tips and an overdose of self-confidence further, and you could become a muse. Oh well, being your own muse couldn't hurt anyone, could it?
1. Do your homework before shopping: read magazines, blogs and websites to discover what your favourite fashionistas are wearing.
2. Mix sexy and casual: for example you could wear shorts with a knitted jumper.
3. Better over-dressed then under-dressed!
4. Don't discriminate clothes, markets and stores: if something isn't expensive or designed by someone famous, that doesn't mean it's useless!
5. If you got it, flaunt it! Show your endless long legs or wavy hair.
6. Dress after your figure and highlight your skinniest parts, like your waist or your legs. And also, buy clothes that fit you, do not buy sizes that don't fit you because you feel bad about not-being a size zero.
7. Use prints to brighten up your outfit, but notice that prints move with your body and can look very different on you if wearing it. Mixing a print with a solid bag always works!
8. Use accessories, but don't overdo it because you don't want to look like a christmas tree...
9. The better the fabric's quality, the better it will fit you.
10. Your outfit isn't completed without the right hair and make-up. Little tip: if you want to have the so-called 'beachy hair look', wash your hair with warm water and salt.
11. The best accessory you can possess, is self-confidence!
